Sparteo Boosts LCHF-arkivet's RPM by 50% while balancing ad strategy with reader experience
Company
Lchfarkivet.se (LCHF-arkivet) grew from Lari Salminen's frustration with his health struggles When he discovered low-carb eating actually worked for his stomach problems, he wanted to share his experiences with others who might be facing the same issues.
Salminen got tired of seeing LCHF-arkivet recipes shared through clunky screenshots on Facebook groups. He created a clean, functional platform where people could properly organize and share recipes. Over time, the site grew into a thriving platform with a loyal, engaged audience, and Salminen was able to start monetizing the traffic through advertising. What started as his personal solution has become Sweden's go-to resource for low-carb cooking, built by someone who genuinely needed it to exist.
Problem
Several different vendors formerly monetized LCHF-arkivet. By the nature of these vendors’ independence from one another, they weren’t working together to engage visitors without disrupting the reader experience. In fact, most readers’ experience was disrupted by a combination of disjointed video and display ads fighting for attention on almost every page.
When each vendor treated their ads as isolated elements rather than seeing the entire page as one cohesive advertising environment, LCHF-arkivet missed out on revenue.
Solution
LCHF-arkivet worked with Sparteo to overhaul its monetization approach. They used Sparteo's Actirise solution to create more revenue opportunities while keeping the reader experience in mind.
Actirise unifies LCHF’s on-page ad strategy
Actirise improved LCHF-arkivet’s on-page advertising strategy by bringing their display and video ads under one system. Having one vendor to oversee each page’s ad strategy as a whole increased their revenue per mille (RPM) by 17% in the first month and 50% after the second.
Using Flashbid technology, Actirise connects to over 100 advertising sources (DSPs, SSPs, and direct advertisers) through a single platform. It processes 1 billion ad auctions and analyzes 100 billion data points daily to continuously refine ad placements.
Its AI tools make smart decisions by considering all ads on the page. They regulate when and how ads appear, prevent loading delays, and adjust pricing to attract better advertisers.
The Analytics component provides real-time data on content performance so LCHF-arkivet can quickly address underperforming pages.

Technical foundations and support from Sparteo’s team
Sparteo's partnership extended beyond simply implementing new technology. They provided ongoing technical optimization and hands-on support to ensure LCHF-arkivet could fully benefit from their new tools.
- Supply chain optimization: LCHF-arkivet worked with Sparteo to update their ads.txt file to create a more transparent advertising supply chain and prevent revenue loss to unauthorized resellers. They also improved Core Web Vitals scores, particularly focusing on visual stability. This was especially important for LCHF-arkivet's recipe pages, where layout shifts could disrupt readers following cooking instructions.
- Dedicated support: Sparteo's team provides ongoing support to help LCHF make the most of its new tools. They monitor LCHF-arkivet’s analytics in real-time to find revenue streams from previously unmeasured sources like Google Discover, Facebook, and Instagram. This gives LCHF-arkivet a more complete understanding of how readers find and engage with their content.
Results
Within weeks of implementation, LCHF-arkivet achieved what many publishers consider a huge challenge: growing revenue while actually improving the reader experience.
+17% increase in RPM in the first month, and 50% after the second.
Actirise’s holistic approach to LCHF-arkivet’s display and video advertising strategy improved engagement with ads, which directly translated to higher RPM.
By first focusing on creating value for readers, LCHF-arkivet built more sustainable revenue to support its mission rather than undermine it.
What impressed me most about working with Sparteo was their understanding that user experience and revenue aren't opposing forces. Before, our site’s ads were competing with one another, which wasn’t the right reader experience. Now, we've increased revenue while actually making the site more engaging. The technical aspects worked as promised, but the real value was having someone who saw our content as more than just ad space. Our recipes exist to help people with health struggles like mine, and Sparteo respected that mission.
